Vancouver Laneway House
City of VancouverThis is a prototype laneway house for a standard City of Vancouver 33 foot lot. One rectangular box rotated upon another maximises its tiny space to include a covered parking stall, a private bedroom deck, and a dynamic spatial experience in that upstairs and downstairs do not align as a single rectangle. This helps to mitigate the tiny size and scope of interior spaces.
Simple forms were used to maximize opportunities for privacy, to mediate the close proximity of the lane, to complement the existing house, and to relate to the garden between.
