Ridgetop House
Maple Ridge, BCThis house was designed for a rare north facing site atop a cliff-side ridge with spectacular views of the mountain ranges surrounding the Golden Ears. The topography is mimicked with a landscape retaining wall which provides a flat (floor level) area for outdoor living spaces including a pool. The main wing of the building cantilevers over the drop created by the retaining wall providing seclusion to the master bedroom spaces. The interior is centred on an open plan living zone, flanked by guest rooms on one end, and the private quarters of the owners on the other. The main living spaces, while having generous windows facing the mountain views and the front of house gardens, are made more withdrawn and private through the placement of entry and solarium ‘pavilions’ along both sides.
